A Little About the Instructors.Training at our dojo incorporates elements of Aikido, Kobudo and ki. The purpose of this type of training is to develop the whole body, physically and mentally. The end result we feel is a more centered individual and a more rounded martial artist.
Sensei Gonz- Dojo Cho and Chief Aikido Instructor has 20+ years of martial arts study in Aikido with a background in Shindo Jinen Ryu Karate, Chanbara, Okinawan Kobudo, Judo, Jodo, Jujitsu and Kendo. In 1990 he began his training at Sumi Dojo in Sidney, NY and upon receiving his Shodan in 1993 began teaching Aikido at places like Broome-Tioga Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in their Adult Continuing Education programs, BOCES Criminal Justice Program, Binghamton Boys and Girls club and the Lourdes Wellness Center. Gonz Sensei continues his training with the Aikido Association of America and with other great internationally known and recognized instructors and is currently working on a Aikido based anti bullying program to promote in schools.

Sempai Schmidt- Has been with Senshi Dojo since 2009 and has devoted herself to the study of Aikido. In her first year she put in 400+ hours of training equivalent to 4 years of regular 1 hour classes per week, to attain her Sankyu and receive her Jyoshu (Assistant in Aikido Training) certification. In doing so, she has become senshi dojos first Uchi-deshi (live-in student/apprentice). Recently, she tested and attained her Nikyu. Sempai Schmidt is a very talented Aikidoist, excellent Assistant instructor and an asset to senshi dojo.
